#YelloCare 2011

The year 2011 being declared the “Year of the Forest” by the United Nations, the 2011 edition of the 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme focused on protecting the environment, major commitment of the MTN Group. To this effect, in Cameroon, MTN staff planted 2000 trees in the locality of Bwassa in the South West region; the species planted to benefit the inhabitants of this village was “Prunus Africana”, plant with medicinal values used against prostate enlargement, malaria, etc. A seminar to sensitize MTN partner companies on the protection of the environment, sanitation and treatment of the Kondi river in Douala, cleaning of the Mvog-Betsi zoo and contribution to protection endangered species, gathering and recycling of plastic bags in the North region, as well as the creation and maintenance of green areas in the West region featured on the 2011 list of actions.
